In a car what is ultra boost, max boost, and twin turbo?
Mate Iv'e never heard of ultra boost, max boost but twin turbo, yes I have!
Twin turbo's are basically compressors which pressurise your combustion chamber in your engine.
They are driven off your exhaust gases and in the twin turbo case you would have one off each side of your motors exhaust manifolds compressing each head on a V configured engine. Some engines like the Subaru B4 Has twin turbos but the work differently in that one turbo runs at lower rpm and the other one kicks in at higher rpm.
I work on a Motoryacht that has two 64ltr engines with the same configuration. I love it when the engines are running flat out. You get a negative air pressure due to the turbos sucking the air out of the engine room. You feel very small between the two!
But thats it, the gases from your exhaust drive an impeller that shares the same shaft as the intake impeller which pumps air into you engine, basically!
Look them up on the net! very interesting and can get very complex!
