Is it ok to use one of those "stove top grill/griddles on an electric ceramic cooktop style...?
...stove? I am talking about
the ones that take up two burners. I believe some can be reversible for use as a griddle on one side and grill on the other. If it is ok to use them, Can someone give me your experience with them and which one you recommend? I don't really want to buy a real expensive one as I don't think I would use it every week-not sure. Give me your experience using one on that type of stove and how well it works if you like it etc. I have seen them on Emeril and also Rachael Ray and a few other cook shows but they all use gas stoves so not sure about electric-especially the ceramic style.
I don't have one, sorry, so I can't recount a personal experience. But I got up and took a look at my stove and looked through the manual to see if anything was mentioned. It didn't specify as far as I can see, but I think it would work as long as the griddle isn't made from some material that could score the surface that isn't over a Heating Element, like copper or glass. If it's Cast Iron or aluminum, it should work fine. Again, I remind you I haven't tried this myself.

I use this pan for bacon and eggs, just for the two of us. I let it preheat a little so that the pan is completely hot. I put bacon on one end and eggs on the other. I put a big round glass lid over the bacon so that it doesn't splatter. It's perfect for cooking up bacon for a crowd if we have company. It sits perfectly flat against the stove top, which is my ceramic stove top requires. It's great for breakfast, grilled sandwiches, hamburgers for a crowd, etc. I've owned a number of griddles over the years and the Calphalon griddle is my favorite.

Again, not my review and that's kind of an expensive griddle for your purposes. My advice would be to not risk it with something too cheap, and maybe even to contact the manufacturer to confirm whether or not a specific griddle is safe on a ceramic stove top, but it really seems to me that it should be okay in most instances.
