Why my Hot Water Recirculation Pump feel so hot and melted foam insuation aorund it?
The pump was there with hot water heater when I brouhg my house. I disconnceted it from power to save electricity. Yesterday, my hot water heater is broken and replaced with a new one. I decided to plug in the recirculation pump and start using it. It hot water pipe near the pump and the pump was very hot, and even melted the foam pipe insulation. Is there something wrong with the pump? It does not seem normal to be so hot. I appreciate an answer. Thanks.
It could be a closed valve in the loop near the pump. If the water isn't flowing, the pump will generate heat. Take a look and see if the valves are open, then try it again.
