do i NEED marshmallows in frosting?? Bakers, help!?
hey guys i'm planning on making a red velvet cake (recipe by Paula Deen) this morning, now i have all of the ingredients, except the marshmallows for the frosting. check out the ingredients:
Icing:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
1 stick butter, softened
1 cup melted marshmallows
1 (1-pound) box confectioners' sugar
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
i forgot the marshmallows, i it absolutely necessary that i use them?? will it throw off the consistency of the icing, i'm not a major fan of marshmallows either, is there another complimentary icing that i can conjure up with the rest of ingredients that i do have?
(btw, i've never baked a cake or frosted anything from scratch anyways, so i hope someone can help)
No, you don't have to have marshamallows. Just use a cream chz icing recipe that does not call for them!
Frosting
2 sticks butter, room temp.
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, room temp.
2 tsp. vanilla
2 (16 oz) boxes powdered sugar
at least 1 cup chopped pecans
Cream butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla, powdered sugar, and cream until smooth. Frost layers. Add pecans to each layer as frost cake. You may have frosting left over, so be generous with it.
