How can I sell Christmas decorations?
Scrounging in the attic of my parent's estate I put together a cache of Christmas decorations (artificial wreaths, small trees, Santas & snowman figurines, ornaments, cookbooks, snow globes, etc.). I knew people probably weren't looking for things like this during the summer, so I had a tag sale this past weekend and advertised it as a Christmas sale. Only 2 people stopped and only one bought a box of writing paper for $1. What is the best way to sell Christmas items? I don't want to just give them away. They must have some value.
It's now how, but why. I'm surprised you sold ANYTHING. People are hurting in a big way right now with the poor economy and not looking for trinkets that they only use a week or two a year. Unless it REALLY old ornaments (like made in Germany in the 1800's plated with real silver), don't expect people to be beating a path to your sale. Most people already have what they need in the way of Christmas decorations anyway. They may deed a replacement light for the tree or more tinsel, but not things like you mentioned. You might try donating them to a senior center, Goodwill or Salvation Army.
